Water Leak
During the chilling process, water is removed from the hot outside air. The water accumulates in the heater box and drains out of your Chrysler via a drain tube. The heater box and drain tube are positioned behind the firewall. If you notice water on the front passenger side carpet, the AC has a drainage problem, and excess water is leaking into the cabin.
One of the main causes of this problem is the growth of bacteria stretching across the drainage tube. Bacteria can quietly grow and expand over the cold winter months when the AC isn’t in use, and a blocked drainage tube will cause the heater box to fill with water and then drain into the passenger compartment. We’ll remove and replace the drainage tube, clear the bacteria from your AC, and clean the carpet with an antibacterial solution.
Broken Compressor Clutch
The compressor is the main component in your AC system, as it switches on and off to move the refrigerant through the system so it can chill the air. The compressor is controlled by the compressor clutch. If you listen carefully when it’s quiet, you can hear the slight click of the compressor switching on and off.
The clutch can break, and if this happens, the compressor will continue to run until it burns itself out or won’t switch on at all, and your AC won’t work. If you smell a burning metallic smell, your compressor could be in trouble. Our technicians will examine your AC. If the compressor is in good condition, we’ll replace the clutch, and it will work efficiently again. If the compressor is damaged, we’ll install a new one for you.
Weird Noises
Strange sounds from the AC usually mean that dirt or debris has entered your AC system. Gravel, leaves, and a variety of small solid objects can be drawn into the AC ducts with the air. They can’t escape the system, so they’ll continue to move around as the air blows through the system. Larger pieces of debris could block the vents into the cabin and restrict airflow.
Harsher sounds like grinding or rattling could mean worn AC bearings or even a broken piece of one of the fans. We can clear any debris in the AC ducts or make any necessary repairs, and your AC will become quiet again.
